So once again Sarah Palin has made the cover of Newsweek. It's a good cover (at least I think so) but other Republicans are crying foul. It seems that the folks over at Newsweek decided not to do any airbrushing on this particular photo. They (Republicans) are upset that Palin's natural beauty is showing.
So what if you can see her wrinkles, pimples, and pores? Is it really such a terrible move on the magazine? Of course we all know magazines are known for airbrushing/touching up/photo-shopping photos so why is so wrong that this one time that Newsweek decided to go in the opposite direction? I for one think that Palin is a beautiful woman and this cover actually shows something that many other covers don't show.
SHE IS HUMAN!
Hell I have wrinkles and pimples. If you look close enough you can see my pores (dirt and all). Reports are saying that Newsweek used airbrushing on Obama when he was featured on covers and if that's true then I can completely understand why people are upset that Palin didn't get the same treatment.
The thing is that people on magazine covers should be appearing as they look in everyday life (yes this is my opinion). If they must wear makeup then use as little as possible. Now I have no idea how Palin looks when she wakes up in the morning but looking at her numerous most times she doesn't even look like she wears makeup (aside from the lipstick and mascara).
Using the technique of airbrushing photos is one of the main reasons why young girls have such a false sense of beauty. They pick up the magazines and see these people with "flawless" skin and they want the same for themselves. It's also another reason why they are willing (at any age) to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to get rid of those imperfections by way of plastic surgery. Now I'm not saying that people should walk around with two million pimples or wrinkles but every person has some type of small imperfection (remember birth marks) and those are things that make us unique and beautiful all at the same time.

Hey, I can't stand Sarah Palin but she claims to be one of us so I say an untouched photo is as honest as you can get. Obama's got my vote but I'll give Palin props for allowing that photo to fly.
I really liked the fact that she's letting the photo stand. Other than that I'm tired of the media coverage of the entire election though.
Great post. I don't get the hullabaloo (did I just write that?) over this photo. She is human and this is a great photo.
SHE IS HUMAN!
But also possible INSANE.
Personally I think that airbrushing shoudl be left to fashion mags and celebrity gossip, and new magazines should be kept brutally real, right down to the wrinkles and zits.
Is this how trivial Republicans can be? It's no wonder that the perception that they lack substance continue to persists. They should be thankful to Newsweek for giving Palin some exposure.
@Renée - Thanks. You did write hullabaloo lol. It is a great photo. I still don't see why they're upset over a few blemishes.
@Meleah - With all the crap the media dug up on her I would probably be questioning her sanity too.
@Noner - I hear ya.
@Joel - They are being trivial but you made a good point. Any exposure she and any other candidate gets is good.

happy weekend.
I like her and she got my vote.
I don't know what they're fussing about, the cover is honest. Didn't Jamie Lee Curtis have a media fight over a magazine cover because she wanted it to be natural and not airbrushed? You can't win for losing these days.
I'm a Republican and I have absolutely no problem with that photo. As it has been said, she's a human being and -- what's more -- she's one of us. She's flawed, middle class and none to vain, unlike any of the other three goons in this election (and, yes, that includes McCain).
I absolutely hate this election.
Visit The Natural State Hawg!
It is even better without faking the image! I should not have complain abut it if i am a fan or if i am palin... that means indeed we are humans and not plastic nor fabrications of computer software touches!
Well, bless her heart, all the way down to that cute little pimple.
@Liza - Thank you very much. I hope you had a great weekend.
@Lanie - She carries herself well. With all of the media I sometimes wonder if she's going to crack.
@Shae - Jamie Lee Curtis had that same problem. I remember the cover shoot she had and I liked it too.
@Hawg - Can I join that club? I hate this election too. I will be so glad when it's over.
@Learner - The sooner everyone realizes that the better off we will be.
@Jacqueline - It's cute. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. I wonder if the Republicans asked the opinions of regular people before going on this media tirade.
she scares me. The End!
@Meleah - LOL!
